There's something to be said about being comfortable in your own skin. Since his debut release 'The Show Off Mixtape' with acclaimed DJ IV, Solid Mas has certainly found a relaxed niche for himself. This release was designed to entertain from start to finish. Seeking a lot of the mixtape's production in a guerilla fashion, 'The Show Off 2' still heavily imposes and entrusts the skills of Bankrush family member Memorecks for his one of a kind abilities to make your head nod. The release also features beats from friends Rich Kidd, DJ Cypha and Junia T.

On this mixtape, Mas punches away from his old style and his 'habit of spending years on a song' to develop a new system of writing and recording. Senor Mas established a simple set of standards for this release he calls 'The Rules', in order to push his audience for them to determine what having real skill entails. Mas enlists the aid of fellow crusaders J. Chau of Bankrush family, rising legend SRH, veteran Toronto native Knamelis and UK battle crusher Sensa.

The whole release was prepared, written and arranged within 2 weeks in the summer of 2010 and due to personal conflicts, it wasn't recorded until a drifting spell left Mas at Memorecks' recording HQ for a week to recharge his protons. Recording the whole release in just 2 days, Bankrush has sat on this release hoping that it would reach its audience in secure time. This time is now. There was something to be said about being comfortable in your own skin, when the term 'show off' takes a whole new meaning.


THE RULES:
1. You can listen to the song/beat as long as you want
2. TIMER RATION: Once you start writing, a timer must be set for 15mins (In cases of just a verse; set timer for 5mins)
3. Once the timer goes off, no more work can be written on the song, if you feel the song is not done, you must finish it while recording and with no writing.
4. A maximum 3 syllables are allotted for each bar, nothing more must be written on the page.
5. Verses are not counted by 16s. They are counted as you see fit.
6. Choruses/Bridges can only be written from the first phrase that comes to mind, it is preferred to write them down during the Timer Ration so you can double them during recording. If you don't have a chorus, you will have to improvise during recording. (This make can make doubling choruses difficult and is frowned upon).
7. Good shit is raw shit. Refining is for oil companies.
